VEIN SCLEROSING (SCLEROTHERAPY) Vein Sclerosing (Sclerotherapy) WHO IS A CANDIDATE? If you have small, unsightly spider veins on your legs and/or face. INTENDED RESULT Removal of spider veins on the legs and/or face. PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION Using magnification to improve accuracy, a small amount of sclerosing agent (concentrated salt solution) is injected into the visible spider veins. Sedation is not usually required. RECUPERATION AND HEALING Discoloration usually persists in the area for 5 to 7 days. Discomfort is usually minimal. Mild pain medication is all that is required. The final result is evident in 10 to 14 days. This procedure is not covered by insurance. THREE DIMENSIONAL NASAL IMPLANT
|
| Till
date we have equipped with two-dimensional nasal implants, which gives
support to the dorsum and columella of nose to enhance and uplift the
nose. In this process their are limitations to improve the depressed nostril
borders or uneven surface. Here the major complications for the three-dimensional
nasal implant that it becomes impractical. Since all the above problem
the scientist they do agree with the dwarf technology and limitations
of operative procedures. To over come the above-mentioned limitations,
Dr. Vijay Sharma has invented a three-dimensional implant, which has got
two components, one is main implant with a hole at the junction of the
tip and second is medium diameter fine wire. Operation technique: After
giving the local anaesthesia we start digging the inside of the nostril
base at the junction of nose and tip from inside of nose with the finest
liposuction cannula, which creates a tunnel at the nostril lining, which
goes up to the tip and cross the border of other side and comes out of
the base of the nostril through the lumen of liposuction cannulae we pass
a thick nylon wire. Within the mouth after creating a tunnel, which extend
from naso labial junction to the globella (nose forehead junction). In
which we introduce the nasal implant with a hole at the tip. Now through
the previously dugged tunnel around the nostril we put reasonable thick
silastic wire, which passes through the hole of the nasal implant and
help this to stay in position for ever. This operation technique gives
freedom and ability to design circular, oblige, uplifted, blunt, droopy
and uneven nostril to match with other parts of the nose. |

BODY PROCEDURE GUIDE
|
|
Result: Usually last approximately 7-10 years. Browlift: Lifts the forehead, often resulting in a fresher look to the eyes. In endoscopic browlift a small telescope is inserted through small incisions behind the forehead hairline and used to guide the surgeon in lifting the tissues of the forehead and brow. At the same time, the small muscles of the forehead responsible for causing frown lines are weakened so these lines are smoothed or disappear. Usually a week recovery, with residual swelling and bruising lasting up to two weeks. Fully recovered by 6 weeks. Result: Approximately 10 years before normal ageing continues. Cheek and chin implants: Correct sunken cheeks or receding chin and improve facial balance. Often combined with a facelift or blepharoplasty, the incisions for cheek implants are made through hairline or lower eyelids. The incision for a chin implant is usually hidden in the mouth. Recovery: Cheek and chin implant surgery can be followed by swelling and bruising for several days and may also result in difficulty talking and eating for a short time. Results: Permanent unless the implant is removed. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty): Corrects drooping eyelids or puffy bags under the eyes. The incision for an upper blepharoplasty is in the lid crease. It is made with either a scalpel or Carbon Dioxide laser (that seals blood vessels as it cuts). Skin, Muscle and fat are removed. The eyelids should function normally after surgery. Incision for lower eyelid surgery can be made either inside the eyelid (eliminating external scars) or, if there is a lot of skin excess, incision underneath the eyelashes is required. There is usually some bruising and swelling for about 2 weeks. The final result is apparent about 6 weeks after surgery. Result: Approximately 7-10 years before normal ageing continues. Nose Surgery (Rhinoplasty): Reshapes the nose to balance with other facial features. There are two main techniques: open (incisions at the base of the nose) and closed (incisions inside nose) that can change the size of the nose, remove a hump, narrow the nostrils, change the angle and/or refine the tip. Most people take 7-10 days off work to allow swelling and bruising to settle. Pain is minimal and can be treated by over-the-counter painkillers. Result: Permanent. Ear Surgery (Otoplasty): Pins back ears. Incisions are made behind the ear to remove a thin strip of skin. The middle cartilage layer of the ear is folded back and secured in position. The ears are wrapped for 1 week and likely to be swollen for a few weeks. Normal activities can be recommenced within 1-2 weeks. Result: Permanent. Botulinum Toxin Injections: Diminishes lines and creases in forehead and crow's feet by causing paralysis in select muscles. A simple procedure involving small injections of botulinum toxin into several locations. The needle is very fine and only a small amount of liquid is used so most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. Some patients experience slight temporary bruising at the injection site, although normal activities can be resumed immediately. Results: Can be immediate, although may take up to four days. Effects usually last 4-5 months. Laser Resurfacing: Lasers can diminish lines and wrinkles by removing skin in microlayers, until all damaged layers are gone-stimulating the production of new skin. Carbon Dioxide lasers can produce a dramatic reduction in wrinkles, but side effects such as redness are great. Erbium laser has greater accuracy with less side effects, but can't treat deep wrinkles as successfully. Other laser can treat spider veins and pigmentation. Recovery usually takes 7-10 days in the case of Erbium laser, and 10 - 14 days for Carbon Dioxide lasers. With Erbium treatment, redness is usually mild and lasts up to 8 weeks. Carbon Dioxide redness is more severe and can lasts up to 6 months. Results: If laser resurfacing is performed to sufficient depth, results may lasts 10 years or longer. Dermal Fillers (Mouth): Create fuller lips with the use of fillers such as Collagen and Restylane, or implants such as SoftForm. Fillers are injected into the lips or naso labial fold for added plumpness. Soft implants are inserted through small slits in the skin and can be used in the same areas as dermal fillers with similar results. A small amount of swelling will last the day of injection with dermal fillers. Swelling is likely for a couple of days following an implant and occasionally bruising. Results: Not permanent and reapplication necessary between 3 and 6 months. Implants produce permanent results unless removed. Cosmetic Dentistry: Corrects discoloured, crooked or missing teeth. Veneers and bleaching are minor procedure that can improve discoloured teeth. Veneers and crowns can be placed on existing teeth to fix badly shaped, chipped or crooked teeth and implants can be used for missing teeth. Usually very little recovery time is needed. Results: Can be dramatic and are usually permanent. Breast Augmentation: Several techniques are used and the incision is placed under the breast fold, around the nipple, in the umbilicus or in the armpit. The implant, either saline or silicone, round or teardrop in shape, is placed above or below the muscle. The procedure is individualised for each woman. Discomfort felt for the first few days is controlled with pain tablets. Return to work is usually possible after 4-7 days. Results: Larger, more shapely breasts. Breast Lift (Mastopaxy): For a small lift, the peri-areola mastopexy is used where an incision is made around the nipple. The nipple is elevated and the skin envelope is moved so the nipple sits higher on the breast bound. For a larger lift, the inverted t-incision technique is widely used. It involves an incision being made around the nipple and vertically down, with another incision horizontally under the breast. The excess skin is removed and the nipple placed higher on the breast mound. It takes 5-7 days to initially heal. The resulting scars should fade over time and the scar around the nipple may be tattooed to match skin tone. Discomfort felt for the first few days is controlled with pain tablets. Result: Less saggy breasts with the nipple placed higher on the breast mound. Breast Reduction: The two popular procedures for breast reduction are peri-areola mastopexy with reduction and the "inverted T pattern". The excess breast tissue is excised and the nipple is repositioned higher producing a lift/reduction. The breast take several months to settle and the shape changes slightly as it assumes a more rounded appearance. The surgical scars fade over time. Discomfort felt for the first few days is controlled with pain tablets. Results: Smaller breasts with a more pleasing shape and position. Liposuction: The area to be treated is infiltrated with a tumescent fluid containing local anaesthetic and a vaso-constictor. Small cannulae are used to suction out the fat. In some cases ultrasound waves are used to melt the fat. Liposuction can be performed almost anywhere on the body where there are pockets of fat: neck, arms, stomach, back, chest, buttocks, thighs and ankles. It can be performed as a day case. Although unlikely, bruising may persist for the first few weeks and swelling for 1-2 months. A compression garment is usually worn for 4-6 weeks. Patients can usually return to work after 3-7 days. Results: Used more for body reshaping than bulk reduction, liposuction can remove disproportionate pockets of fat to create a more balanced form. Tummy Tuck (Abdominoplasty): Under general anaesthetic an incision is made across the lower abdomen, the excess skin and fat are removed and the stomach muscles tightened. The navel is repositioned as the skin is re-stretched over the stomach. A firm strap and drain must be worn for the first 24 hours, then a compression garment for several weeks. It is recommended patients take 3 weeks off work. Results: A flatter stomach with repaired abdominal muscles and removal of excess skin. A large scar is created across the lower abdomen. Body Implants: can be placed in any area where there is a non-moving contour defect: buttocks, biceps, breasts, calf, face, pectoral, penis and triceps. An incision is made at the site and the implant is inserted either above or below the muscle. Swelling and bruising may last for several days. Numbness can occur but usually subsides. Work can usually resumed after 4-7 days. Results: A realigned body through a subtle increase in volume to isolated areas. While most implants are used to create balance, custom implants can be made to recreate symmetry for patients who have had previous surgery, injury or disease. Scar Revision: Some popular methods of reducing keloid or hypertrophic scars are silicone gel sheets, massage, steroid injections, microdermabrassion and surgical excision. Results: Depending on a number of factors such as family history, predisposition of scars, age of scar, type of scar and location, the approximate scar reduction method is chosen by the surgeon. Varicose Veins: Spider veins on the face, neck, decolletage and legs and varicose veins on the legs can be treated. Vascular lasers are an effective treatment for the face. Sclerotherapy can be used for the face and legs. The vessels are injected with a solution that irritates the vessel walls, closing them. Both treatments can be done in the doctor's office with little recovery time. A compression garment is usually worn after sclerotherapy. Laser Hair Removal: A laser energy beam is directed down the follicle of the hair destroying it at the base, providing long-term hair removal. Many different lasers are available for different hair colours and skin types. An average of 6 treatments is recommended depending on the area being treated. No recovery time is needed. The treated area may be red for several days, and crusty spots may appear that subside over time. The hair is thinned or eradicated long-term. |
